Vysočina region shows divergent demographic trends
New demographic data from the Czech Statistical Office reveals highly divergent population trends across various administrative districts in the Vysočina region.
In the Pelhřimov district, Humpolec shows strong performance, ranking 32nd nationally for population growth between 2010 and 2025 and maintaining a relatively high outlook for its youth population in 2040. Conversely, Pacov faces significant decline, ranking among the weakest districts in both current growth and future youth proportions.
The Třebíč district shows mixed results. Náměšť nad Oslavou is one of the few growing areas in the region, while Třebíč itself is seeing a population decline. Despite a positive migration balance of 95 people in early 2026, the district suffered a natural population deficit of 267 people.
In the Žďár district, Velké Meziříčí stands out as a leader, ranking 20th nationally for its expected share of young residents in 2040. Other areas, including Žďár nad Sázavou and Bystřice nad Pernštejnem, continue to experience population decreases and aging demographics.
