VZBV head calls for heating oil relief in Germany

Ramona Pop, head of the Federation of German Consumer Organisations (VZBV), is calling on the German federal government to provide targeted relief for households facing sharply rising heating oil prices. As the heating season approaches, Pop noted that consumers are paying significantly more than they did a year ago, creating a substantial financial burden. She emphasized that a warm home should not become a luxury and urged support specifically for low- and middle-income households.

Additionally, Pop warned consumers to be vigilant against online fraud. Scammers are reportedly using fake online shops to lure customers with deceptive heating oil bargains. The VZBV recommends using the consumer centers' free ‘Fakeshop-Finder’ to verify the trustworthiness of suppliers before making purchases.
