W3C/WAI announces WCAG 2.2 progress and WCAG 3 draft
The W3C/WAI has announced that the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 is in the final stages of becoming a formal standard. This development is significant because previous versions, such as WCAG 2.1, serve as the foundation for various international accessibility laws, including the European Accessibility Act (EAA) and the European Norm EN 301 549.
Additionally, a new Working Draft for WCAG 3 has been released. This next-generation standard, which may eventually be named W3C Accessibility Guidelines 3, is currently in an experimental phase and is expected to differ significantly from the WCAG 2 series. Experts suggest that the full implementation of WCAG 3 may not occur until the end of the decade.
