Wa Technical Institute commissions solar training centre
Wa Technical Institute in Ghana’s Upper West Region has commissioned a Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Training Centre. The facility aims to provide approximately 100 electrical trainees with practical renewable energy skills, including solar installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting, within one year.
The center was established under the EU-Ghana Pact for Skills Integrated Action on Green Jobs and Skills. The project is supported by the European Union and implemented by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) in collaboration with the Ghana TVET Service.
Dr. Hassan Rashid Pelpuo, Minister of State in charge of Special Initiatives at the Presidency, emphasized that the investment seeks to strengthen the connection between technical education and decent employment. Gisela Spreitzhofer of the EU Delegation to Ghana noted that the initiative is part of broader cooperation to address youth unemployment and meet changing labor market demands.
