Wałbrzych homicide investigation follows fatal stabbing

A 53-year-old man is suspected of murder following a fatal altercation in the Stary Zdrój district of Wałbrzych. The incident occurred on Tuesday, August 11, during an alcohol-fueled gathering involving three men and one woman.

According to the Świdnica District Prosecutor's Office, a dispute arose between two men due to prior misunderstandings. One individual allegedly used a kitchen knife to stab the other six times in the chest and abdomen. Although the suspect called for an ambulance, medical responders confirmed the victim had died at the scene.

The suspect has not pleaded guilty, claiming he cannot remember the full event due to heavy intoxication. Investigators faced delays in questioning those present because the participants were heavily under the influence of alcohol. Formal statements can only be taken once the individuals are sober. The suspect faces potential charges of murder, which carry a sentence ranging from ten years to life imprisonment.
