Polish Police launch nationwide pedestrian safety campaign
The Polish Police have launched a nationwide safety initiative titled ‘Świeć Przykładem – Noś odblaski!’ (Shine by Example – Wear Reflectors!) to increase pedestrian visibility during the autumn and winter months. The campaign, which runs until the end of 2026, aims to educate pedestrians, particularly seniors, on the legal requirement and life-saving importance of wearing reflective elements when moving after dusk.
In addition to the national campaign, regional police are conducting targeted educational and enforcement activities. In Włocławek, police partnered with the JUMPER Foundation to host workshops featuring collision simulators for bicycles and electric scooters to promote helmet use. In the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, intensive road safety operations resulted in 328 recorded violations, with 196 involving drivers and 132 involving pedestrians.
Educational efforts also extend to schools, where officers are teaching children about seasonal hazards such as fog and reduced daylight, providing safety equipment like helmets to encourage responsible behavior on bikes and scooters.
