Wabtec secures $700 million maintenance contract for Guinea's Simandou project

Wabtec has secured a long-term railway services contract worth over $700 million with La Compagnie du Transguinéen (CTG) to support the Simandou mining project in Guinea. The agreement focuses on the maintenance of the Transguinéen locomotive fleet and includes components, spare parts, logistics, training, and remote diagnostics.

This new deal brings Wabtec’s total commitment to the Simandou project to approximately $1.2 billion, following previous contracts for the supply of 143 locomotives. The Transguinéen is a strategic 650-kilometer railway line connecting the Simandou mountains to the port of Morebayah. While currently dedicated to iron ore transport, the line is expected to begin carrying passengers by 2027 and will eventually serve approximately 10 stations for both freight and passenger traffic.
