WADA Director General Olivier Niggli has announced that the World Anti-Doping Agency will maintain high vigilance regarding the monitoring of Russian athletes ahead of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. This follows a decision by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to allow Russian athletes to compete under specific conditions.

Due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, WADA President Witold Banka stated that the agency is currently unable to conduct the necessary in-person audits in Moscow required to verify if the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) is complying with the code. Consequently, there are currently no accredited anti-doping laboratories operating within Russia.

To ensure integrity, all samples from Russian athletes seeking Olympic participation will be analyzed in foreign laboratories. The IOC has also requested a strengthened testing system, which includes multiple tests for any Russian athlete intending to qualify for the Los Angeles Games.
