Wadadli Healing Symposium to be held in Antigua and Barbuda

The Wadadli Healing Symposium, a free two-day national event, is scheduled to take place in Antigua and Barbuda on October 6 and 7. Organized by the Jane E. Toussaint Foundation in partnership with Be The Healing Inc. and The University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus, the symposium aims to address historical and community trauma while providing tools for strengthening families and community wellbeing.

The program features a mix of cultural showcases and professional workshops. Day one includes a keynote address by Dr Joy DeGruy, an expert in healing, culture, and race relations, alongside performances by the Hells Gate Steel Orchestra and a new work by poet Dotsie Isaac.

Day two focuses on specific demographics, including sessions for men and young people aged 15 to 24. Facilitators such as Dr David C. Miller and Persephone Modeste will lead workshops on mental health awareness, identity, and emotional wellness. The event also includes participation from Elder Michael and Eldress Jackie Campbell, who specialize in culturally responsive programs for Black youth and families.
