Wadi Hali Dam begins discharging 20 million cubic meters of water
The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture office in Al Qunfudhah and the General Water Authority have begun discharging approximately 20 million cubic meters of water from the Wadi Hali Dam. The dam gates will remain open for 46 days to support the agricultural sector, meet farmers' needs, and recharge groundwater in wells located along the valley stream.
This operation is being conducted in coordination with the Makkah Region Emirate and the General Directorate of Civil Defense to ensure organized water flow and public safety. Engineer Ahmed bin Abdullah Al-Qarni, Director of the Ministry's office in Al Qunfudhah, stated that the continuous flow aims to stabilize the agricultural season and improve crop productivity, particularly for high-value crops like mangoes.
The initiative aligns with Saudi Vision 2030 goals to enhance water resource management efficiency and ensure food and water security through sustainable agricultural practices.
