Wadowice wedding incident leads to death and police dismissal

A 38-year-old man died in Wadowice following an incident at a wedding held at a local hotel. The man, who was a hotel guest but not an invited wedding attendee, reportedly behaved aggressively, harassed guests, and attempted to take alcohol from the premises. A physical altercation broke out between the man and wedding guests before police arrived.

During the subsequent police intervention, the man was subdued and handcuffed. Witnesses and video footage indicate he complained of difficulty breathing before losing consciousness and suffering cardiac arrest. Despite resuscitation efforts by officers and medical teams, he died in the hospital. Preliminary autopsy results suggest that the physical assault by guests was not the direct cause of death, though investigations continue.

Seven men, aged 29 to 44, were detained in connection with the brawl. Among those facing charges is a police officer with 19 years of service, who was a guest at the wedding. Following the prosecutor's charges, the Provincial Police Commander in Krakow dismissed the officer from service. Authorities are also reviewing whether the responding officers followed proper procedures during the intervention.
