Waga Energy reports revenue growth amid net loss and project delays
Waga Energy, a specialist in producing biomethane from landfill gas, reported its first-half 2026 financial results, showing a 22% year-on-year increase in revenue to 33.5 million euros. While the company achieved a positive EBITDA of 0.5 million euros, it recorded a net loss of 12.4 million euros. Due to these developments, the group has pushed back several key objectives—including revenue targets of 200 million euros and an installed capacity of 4 TWh per year—to mid-2028, representing an 18-month delay.
In its operational expansion, Waga Energy has signed a contract with FCC Medioambiente to produce Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) at the Ecocentral site in Alhendín, near Granada, Spain. Under a ten-year agreement, Waga Energy will finance, build, and operate a WAGABOX® upgrading unit. The facility, scheduled to start up in 2028, is expected to produce approximately 80 GWh of RNG annually, enough to supply roughly 16,000 Spanish households, while avoiding 19,000 metric tons of CO2 equivalent emissions per year.
