Wagga Wagga Base Hospital expands short-stay surgical services

A $30 million investment in health services is expanding high-volume short-stay surgical services at Wagga Wagga Base Hospital in the Riverina region. The program aims to reduce hospital stays and allow patients to return home sooner through improved discharge planning and dedicated beds for planned surgeries.

The initiative supports various medical fields, including ear, nose and throat surgery, general surgery, gynaecology, urology, and orthopaedic surgeries. Since its introduction in June, the program has already performed more than 50 surgeries, according to local Member of Parliament Joe McGirr.
