Wagga Wagga to Host 2026 NRLW Magic Round Amid Scheduling Concerns

The 2026 National Rugby League Women's (NRLW) Magic Round will be staged in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, with all 12 teams converging on the regional town for a two‑day showcase. The state government has secured Wagga Wagga as the host city for the next three years, moving the event from its 2025 debut in Newcastle.

Players expressed confidence that the weekend will attract strong crowds despite scheduling overlaps. Parramatta halfback Rachael Pearson said, “If they want to watch it, they’ll tune in, or they’ll be there with their double pass in person,” and highlighted the passion of Riverina fans. Concerns were raised about clashes with NRL fixtures, as Canberra will face North Queensland on the Gold Coast and other matches will run concurrently with the men's competition.

Key match-ups include the opening game between the Cronulla Sharks and Wests Tigers, followed by the Dragons versus the Sydney Roosters later on Saturday. Returning player Margot Vella, who suffered a knee injury at last year’s Magic Round, is targeting a strong performance for the Cowboys. The event is expected to benefit from improved weather forecasts compared with the wet‑condition debut in Newcastle.
