Wagner de Bebé Returns to Santa Rita City Council After Prison Release

Wagner Lucindo de Souza, known as Wagner de Bebé and a member of the PSD, was arrested in August 2025 on suspicion of involvement in a homicide. Subsequent forensic analysis indicated that the weapons found with him were not linked to the crime, leading prosecutors to file a charge for illegal firearm possession and to revoke his preventive detention for the 2025 case.

Despite being acquitted of a 2016 attempted homicide charge in a jury trial on 11 June, the former conviction kept him detained until his release on Friday, 31 May. On Monday, 3 June, the council president Epitácio Viturino confirmed that Wagner de Bebé resumed his seat in the Santa Rita municipal council after his release.

The return marks the end of his suspension from office that began with his arrest in August 2025.
