Grêmio pursues multiple signings as Wagner Leonardo deal stalls

Brazilian club Grêmio is active in the 2026 transfer window, targeting right‑back Diego Caito, midfielder options, and Argentine defender Matías Moreno from Fiorentina. The club also confirmed the signing of Cape Verdean winger Jovane Cabral, who is expected to join the squad ahead of the next Brasileirão match.

Negotiations with Vitória over the return of centre‑back Wagner Leonardo have broken down. Vitória says Grêmio still owes about R$12.77 million of the R$26 million fee paid in February 2025, and the debt dispute halted the transfer. As a result, the move will not proceed, leaving Wagner Leonardo at Grêmio.

These activities reflect Grêmio’s effort to strengthen key positions while managing outstanding financial obligations.
