Wagyu beef arrives at supermarkets in Acre

Wagyu beef, a high-end Japanese cattle breed known for its intense marbling, has begun being sold in supermarkets in Rio Branco, Acre. The product is available at Arasuper Group locations, marking a novelty for the state.

According to Adem Araújo, CEO of Arasuper Group, the introduction of the meat is an innovation driven by the company rather than direct customer requests. The beef is sourced through a partnership with a supplier in São Paulo. While the meat is now appearing in local retail freezers, the state of Acre already hosts an active Wagyu producer in the municipality of Sena Madureira.

Due to its exclusivity, Wagyu is often referred to as ‘millionaire meat,’ with prices per kilogram potentially exceeding 1,000 reais, making it significantly more expensive than standard beef. Available cuts in Rio Branco include Ancho, Chorizo, Baby Beef, Chuck Steak, and Flat Iron.
