Waheed Para decries double standards in Kashmir crackdown

PDP MLA Waheed Para, a young leader from Pulwama, accused the Indian central government of applying double standards after a mass crackdown in Kashmir. He said compassion shown to student protesters at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar is being denied to Kashmiri youths.

Following the killing of a policeman on Amarnath Yatra security duty by terrorists in the Lal Chowk area of Anantnag, authorities detained more than 3,500 suspected over‑ground workers, with around 2,500 youths reportedly picked up in the last few days. Para quoted his X post: “If reconciliation is the right path for young people in the rest of the country, why is it considered the wrong path for Kashmir?” and warned that “applying one standard to the rest of India and another to Kashmir sends a dangerous message and risks deepening alienation.”
