Vehicle fire and traffic accidents hit Waiblingen area in Germany
On 20 June 2026 a Mercedes‑Benz driver on the Alten Bundesstraße in Waiblingen experienced a technical defect that released a large amount of oil and ignited the engine. The driver extinguished most of the fire with a portable extinguisher; the incident caused about €20,000 in damage and was attended by the Waiblingen volunteer fire service with one vehicle and eight firefighters.
In Fellbach the same day a 58‑year‑old Dacia driver turned into a driveway and collided with an 18‑year‑old cyclist on a bike lane. The cyclist sustained minor injuries and the crash caused €2,500 in property loss.
Later in Waiblingen an 86‑year‑old Mercedes driver rear‑ended a construction vehicle that was securing an oil spill, resulting in minor injuries and roughly €30,000 of damage.
Near Rudersberg a 24‑year‑old Ford driver swerved to avoid a deer, lost control, and the vehicle came to rest against a tree, lightly injuring two occupants. Damage is still being assessed.
