Tiradentes Festival celebrates culinary links between Minas Gerais and Portugal
The 29th edition of the Tiradentes Culture and Gastronomy Festival will take place in Minas Gerais, Brazil, from August 21 to 30. Under the theme ‘Minas Lusitânia – um elo entre culturas’, the event explores the historical culinary connections between Minas Gerais and Portugal.
Curated by journalist and researcher Rusty Marcellini, the festival features more than 40 chefs. The program highlights shared traditions such as the use of pork, olive oil, cheeses, and specific gardening techniques. Key attractions include the ‘Festins’, which are exclusive collaborative dinners, and the ‘Sunset Fartura’ at Vinícola Trindade.
Notable participants include Angélica Salvador, the first Brazilian chef to earn a Michelin star in Portugal, and Cristóvão Laruça. The event will occupy various strategic locations, including Praça Santíssimo, Praça da Rodoviária, and Largo das Forras, offering several free attractions to the public.
