The YouTube channel ‘wakatte. tv’ has issued a formal apology following controversial remarks regarding Fukushima University. In a previously published video discussing university entrance exam difficulty, the creator, Takada Fumin, made inappropriate comments concerning the university’s radiation research, stating they ‘would not want to let anyone touch’ the research area.

Fukushima University released a statement defending its students and faculty, emphasizing that its research into nuclear disasters and environmental radioactivity is vital for scientific verification and regional recovery. The university noted that such academic activities must not have their dignity undermined.

Japan’s Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Yohei Matsumoto, also addressed the incident, stating that it is inappropriate to judge a university’s research capabilities solely by entrance exam deviation scores. The controversial video has since been deleted by the channel.
