The No. 10 Wake Forest Demon Deacons defeated the No. 9 North Carolina Tar Heels 4-3 on Friday night at Karen Shelton Stadium. This marks the first time since 2021 that North Carolina has lost its final regular season home game.

North Carolina held leads twice during the first half, driven by two goals from graduate forward Ryleigh Heck. Junior Coco Courtright later tied the game at 3-3 in the fourth quarter. However, Wake Forest secured the victory through a hat trick by Mia Schoenbeck, who scored all three of her goals via penalty corner drag flicks, including the decisive game-winner with three minutes remaining.

North Carolina (9-6, 5-2 ACC) will next face App State on Sunday.
