Wake Forest dominates California 41-7 in college football
No. 21 Wake Forest secured a decisive 41-7 victory over California at Memorial Stadium on Saturday night. Led by quarterback Gio Lopez, who threw four touchdown passes, the Demon Deacons established a commanding 34-0 lead by halftime.
Lopez completed 267 passing yards, with three of his touchdowns going to tight end Dominick Barry. The victory marks Wake Forest's first appearance in the AP poll in four years.
California struggled to contain Lopez's dual-threat capabilities, failing to record a sack or force a turnover. The loss marks the Bears' third defeat in four home games against FBS competition. Despite the availability of quarterback Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele and safety Kingston Lopa, the team was hampered by the absence of leading running back Adam Mohammed.
