Wake Forest upsets No. 16 Louisville 30-27
Wake Forest pulled off a 30-27 road upset against No. 16 Louisville on Saturday, marking the Demon Deacons' first conference win of the season and improving their record to 3-1.
Kicker Connor Calvert provided critical scoring with three field goals, including a 32-yarder in the fourth quarter. The Wake Forest offense was led by quarterback Gio Lopez, who threw for 225 yards and a touchdown, and wide receiver Carlos Hernandez, who recorded nine receptions for 194 yards. Ty Clark III contributed two rushing touchdowns for the visitors.
Louisville, which fell to 2-2, struggled with discipline and injuries, including the absence of two starting defensive backs. Quarterback Lincoln Kienholz threw for 324 yards and a touchdown while also rushing for two scores. The game was decided in the final seconds when Louisville's 57-yard field goal attempt was blocked by Wake Forest's Gabe Kirschke, preventing overtime. Following the loss, Louisville dropped out of the AP Top 25 rankings.
