Wakefield Trinity signs Emre Guler early from St George Illawarra Dragons
Wakefield Trinity has bolstered its forward pack by securing the immediate arrival of prop Emre Guler. Although Guler had previously signed a three-year contract to join the club starting in 2027, he has been released prematurely by the NRL’s St George Illawarra Dragons to join Trinity for the remainder of the current season.
Guler’s arrival follows the recent signing of Zac Lipowicz from the Catalans Dragons on a short-term deal. These moves come as Wakefield attempts to address significant depth issues in their middle unit caused by injuries to Jay Pitts and Isaiah Vagana, as well as the departure of Seth Nikotemo for personal reasons.
Coach Daryl Powell noted the importance of strengthening the squad numbers as the team moves into the crucial part of the season. Guler, 28, brings extensive experience to the side, having made 126 NRL appearances during his career with the Canberra Raiders and St George.
