Walcha publican organizes fundraiser for Nepal flood victims

Ginesh Sedhain, owner of the Apsley Arms Hotel in Walcha, is organizing a fundraiser to support victims of catastrophic flooding in Nepal. The disaster has caused widespread destruction of homes, roads, bridges, and infrastructure in the Nuwakot and Rasuwa districts.

Mr. Sedhain, originally from Nuwakot, reported that 11 of his friends have died and more than 60 others remain missing. He aims to raise at least $10,000 through an auction and raffle scheduled for Saturday, September 5. The local Walcha community has already pledged over $3,000 in donations, including eight tonnes of firewood and a private helicopter flight.
