Waldorf man charged with arson following domestic dispute

Demartez Trequan Thomas, 29, of St. Mary’s County, California, faces multiple charges including first-degree arson and eight counts of reckless endangerment following a fire in Waldorf.

Investigators from the Office of the State Fire Marshal determined that a fire set on the rear deck of a home on Morraine Street on September 11 was intentionally started. The incident occurred during an ongoing domestic-related dispute involving one of the seven occupants present in the home. No injuries were reported, and property damage was estimated at $1,500.

Thomas was taken into custody by Deputy State Fire Marshals and the Charles County Sheriff’s Office. He is currently being held without bond at the Charles County Detention Center.
