Wales announces squad for Women’s World Cup play-off

Wales head coach Rhian Wilkinson has announced the squad for the upcoming FIFA Women’s World Cup play-off against Albania. The two-leg tie begins on October 9 in Shkodër, followed by a return match in Llanelli on October 13. The squad includes six uncapped players, such as Casi Gregson and Heidi Hills, though several senior players including Mia Ross and Hayley Ladd are unavailable due to injuries.

If Wales advances past Albania, veteran player Jess Fishlock is slated to join the technical staff as a coach for the play-off final in December. Fishlock, the most-capped player for Wales, will remain with her club, Seattle Reign, during the initial matches against Albania but will transition into a coaching role should the team reach the final stage against either Romania or Norway.
