Wales defeat South Africa 50-19 in WXV Global Series opener

Wales secured a 50-19 victory over South Africa in their WXV Global Series opener at Cardiff Arms Park. The win ends a nine-Test losing streak for the Welsh side.

Wales dominated the first half, scoring six tries to establish a 38-5 lead. Prop Sisilia Tuipulotu scored two tries, including one in the opening minutes and another shortly after halftime. Other Welsh scorers included Courtney Keight, Seren Lockwood, Maisie Davies, Kelsey Jones, Lisa Neumann, and captain Alex Callender.

South Africa struggled with discipline, receiving two yellow cards in the first half. Danelle Lochner's yellow card was later upgraded to a red, leaving the team with 14 players for 20 minutes. South Africa's tries were scored by Felicia Jacobs, Maria Tshiremba, and Maceala Samboya. Following the defeat, Springbok Women co-coach Laurian Johannes-Haupt and captain Babalwa Latsha noted that poor execution and disciplinary issues were the primary causes of the loss as the team prepares for their next match against Italy.
