Wales educational and arts initiatives support students and creators

Educational and community initiatives in Wales are providing new opportunities for students and local artists. In Deeside and Wrexham, the Jobs Growth Wales+ (JGW+) summer programme hosted up to 100 school leavers. The seven-week course serves as a transition between school and further education or employment, offering classroom learning, guest speakers, and educational visits to build confidence and skills.

In Swansea, a £3.2 million redevelopment project has transformed a former JT Morgan department store into a new arts centre. Managed by the social enterprise Elysium Gallery and Studios, the facility includes 63 artist studios, a gallery, a café, and educational spaces. The project provides a professional environment for local artists and students from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David to develop their creative practices alongside established professionals.
