Wales gardening rankings highlight top counties for horticulture

A new study by Hedges Direct has ranked various locations across Britain for gardening suitability, highlighting several Welsh counties as top contenders. The Isle of Anglesey ranked first in Wales and 13th in Britain, benefiting from a 365-day growing season and mild temperatures.

Monmouthshire placed third in Wales and 30th in Britain, noted for its high-quality soil and numerous historic gardens. Ceredigion ranked sixth in Wales and 82nd in Britain, distinguished by having the largest average garden size in Wales at 393 square metres and offering affordable green space.

Other high-ranking Welsh areas include Pembrokeshire, Powys, and the Vale of Glamorgan. Conversely, Blaenau Gwent was identified as the least garden-friendly area in Wales, ranking 337th out of 346 local authorities in Britain due to poor scores in climate, garden size, and access to public gardens.
