Wales names squad for Wheelchair Rugby League World Cup

Wales head coach Alan Caron has announced a 12-player squad for the 2026 Wheelchair Rugby League World Cup in Australia. The selection features a historic milestone, as the squad includes two father-and-son pairings: Martin and Matthew Turner, and Gareth and Sid Ramsey. This marks the first time a father and son have represented Wales together at a World Cup and the first instance of two such pairings in a single squad for any nation.

The squad includes potential debutants John Berriman, Gareth Ramsey, and 15-year-old Fionn McCabe. Veteran player Jodie Boyd-Ward has the opportunity to become the first wheelchair player to reach 50 international caps if she participates in three matches. Mark Williams enters the tournament with 42 appearances for Wales.

In addition to the squad announcement, a donation drive has been initiated to help fund the costs associated with the team's participation in the tournament.
