Wales NC defeats Cheshire by 191 runs in NCCA Championship

Wales NC secured a 191-run victory over Cheshire in the NCCA Western Division Two Championship at Alderley Edge. The win marked the first Championship victory for the Welsh side in two years.

The match was highlighted by a record-breaking opening partnership for Wales NC, as Matt Ryan (241) and Tegid Phillips (unbeaten 151) combined to score 380 runs for the first wicket. This set a new NCCA record for any wicket.

Cheshire responded with a total of 381-9, bolstered by Kesh Fonseka’s 164. However, the team was unable to overcome the initial deficit and was eventually dismissed, finishing the red-ball campaign at the bottom of the division.
