Wales road closures announced for August maintenance works

Rhondda Cynon Taf Council will close the Grade‑II listed White Bridge in Pontypridd from 8 am on 10 August until 16 August for a week of repair work, including concrete coating, repainting and sealant replacement. The bridge will be closed to vehicles, pedestrians and emergency services, with traffic diverted via The Parade, West Street and other local routes.

Monmouthshire County Council has also issued a series of temporary road closures across the county in August to allow utility, tree and highway maintenance. Closures include Whitewall in Magor (5‑7 August), a stretch of the R84 near Glyn Farm Road (18‑20 August), Lone Lane (10‑21 August) and Weyloed Lane in Mynyddbach (17‑21 August). Diversion routes are signed, and Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water will carry out infrastructure works on several sites. Motorists are advised to plan ahead and follow the posted diversions.

Both councils emphasize that access for properties fronting the affected roads will be maintained and that contravening the restrictions is an offence under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
