Wales sees rapid solar growth as Wrexham completes major installation

Solar energy installations in Wales have grown by more than 18% between July 2025 and July 2026, outpacing growth rates in England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. According to Department for Energy Security and Net Zero data, Wales reached 144,888 total installations by the end of July 2026. Rooftop solar remains a primary driver of this trend, accounting for over 70% of installations in July.

In Wrexham, a renewable energy firm has completed what is believed to be the largest single rooftop solar installation in Wales. The project, delivered by Rawson Solar for Net World Sports, involves approximately 4,700 solar panels. This two-megawatt system is capable of generating enough electricity to power more than 600 homes and includes hybrid inverters to allow for future battery storage integration.
