2026 Green Flag Awards Honour 330 Welsh Sites and Hundreds of UK Parks

The Keep Britain Tidy‑run Green Flag Awards marked their 30th year in 2026, recognising a record 330 parks and green spaces across Wales. The tally includes 93 full Green Flag sites and 237 Community Award winners, with 29 locations gaining a Community Award for the first time. Wales also secured three new Green Heritage Site Accreditations, such as Caldicot Castle.

In England, dozens of local authorities celebrated the scheme. Sandwell Council announced Britannia Park in Rowley Regis as the only new Green Flag entry among 17 awarded sites in the borough. Knowsley’s Old Rough Park and York’s Hull Road Park similarly earned new flags. Nottingham City Council reported a comeback with ten Green Flags and five Heritage Accreditations, while Rhondda Cynon Taf, Neath Port Talbot, and other councils listed multiple award‑winning parks.

The Green Flag scheme, managed by the environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy under contract from the UK Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government, sets international standards for safety, maintenance and community involvement in public green spaces.
