Wales & West Utilities begins gas pipeline upgrades in Bude and Stroud
Wales & West Utilities is conducting significant gas pipeline upgrade projects in Bude and Stroud to improve energy infrastructure resilience.
In Bude, a £1.2 million investment is underway to upgrade mains for approximately 680 customers. The project involves various traffic management measures, including a road closure on Holnicote Road until September 4 and the installation of traffic lights on Kings Hill and Stratton Road through November. These works are being coordinated with Cornwall Council to ensure long-term gas safety and reliability.
In Stroud, part of a wider £7.5 million investment programme across Gloucestershire, utility crews are replacing gas pipes in the London Road and Bath Road areas. Traffic management includes two-way lights on London Road until August 28 and a closure on Toadsmoor Road from August 10 to August 21. Project managers noted that the timing of the Stroud works was intended to coincide with school holidays to minimize community disruption.
