Walgreens and Valeo Health expand GLP-1 weight management services
Major healthcare providers are expanding support services for GLP-1 weight management medications to improve patient adherence and access.
Walgreens has expanded its virtual weight management service to assist patients with commercial insurance coverage and prior authorizations. The company is also introducing support for Medicare GLP-1 Bridge participants and launching pharmacist outreach for patients starting new prescriptions. The service allows patients to connect with doctors or nurse practitioners online for a $49 fee, excluding medication costs. This move follows similar service revamps by CVS Health aimed at helping patients maintain long-term therapy.
In the UAE, Valeo Health reported a 60% increase in consultations between 2025 and 2026 due to rising interest in GLP-1 therapies. The company utilizes a digital, doctor-led model that integrates blood testing, medical assessments, and continuous monitoring via an app. The platform tracks symptoms and integrates data from wearable devices, such as sleep and activity levels, to allow doctors to adjust treatments as needed. Medication is delivered directly to patients' homes as part of the continuous care loop.
