Walibi amusement park visitor loses finger on water ride
A young German visitor lost part of a finger during a ride on the "Crazy River" water attraction at the Walibi amusement park in the Netherlands. According to reports from the Dutch broadcaster NOS, the victim had his finger caught between the boat and the ride track after leaning his hand out of the vessel.
Reports indicate that the victim endured the approximately three-minute ride while screaming, as park staff did not notice the injury until the boat returned to the station. Following the incident, an ambulance was called and the attraction was temporarily closed.
Walibi stated that there were no technical malfunctions and emphasized that safety regulations require visitors to keep their hands inside the boat. The park has launched an investigation to determine if staff members failed to ensure that safety rules were being followed. The attraction reopened the following day after a safety inspection.
