Walid Regragui debuts as consultant and discusses coaching future

Walid Regragui, the former coach of the Moroccan national team, made his debut as a football consultant on Canal+ during the Canal Football Club program. During his appearance, Regragui addressed the controversial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) final between Senegal and Morocco.

Regragui criticized the conduct surrounding the match, stating, “The big loser is African football,” suggesting the event damaged the continent's sporting image. He specifically targeted the behavior of Senegalese coach Pape Thiaw, noting that such attitudes tarnish the reputation of the sport.

Regarding his professional future, Regragui expressed a desire to return to club management rather than coaching national teams. He confirmed he was approached by several Ligue 1 clubs this summer, including Paris FC, though he noted that some offers were less interesting to him. He joked that while the Paris FC project was appealing due to his roots in the Paris region, the club ultimately chose another direction.
