Walker Kessler prepares for Los Angeles Lakers debut

Walker Kessler is set to make his regular-season debut as the starting center for the Los Angeles Lakers against the Golden State Warriors. The 7-foot-2 center joins the franchise following a significant sign-and-trade deal with the Utah Jazz that involved two first-round picks and two pick swaps. Kessler is signed to a four-year, $130 million contract.

Kessler is returning to competitive play after missing nearly an entire season due to a shoulder injury. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to play for a storied organization, noting that he views the franchise's history of legendary big men as an opportunity rather than pressure.

Lakers head coach JJ Redick stated that Kessler is well-supported by the coaching staff, front office, and his agent. The team's acquisition of Kessler aims to provide rim protection and a reliable target for interior scoring to complement the team's roster.
