Walker Killed by Falling Tree Branch in Berdorf Forest, Luxembourg
On 23 July, a man walking in the communal forest of Berdorf, Luxembourg, was struck by a large branch that detached from a tree. He was severely injured on site, received emergency care, and later died in hospital, as confirmed by police.
The Luxembourg Nature and Forest Administration noted that hot, dry conditions linked to climate change can weaken seemingly healthy trees, increasing the risk of sudden branch falls. It advised forest users to stay on marked paths, avoid lingering beneath trees during breaks, and respect temporary closures and safety measures, especially after periods of drought or storms.
