West Bank: Over 9,500 demolition notices issued since 2015
The Palestinian Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission reported that Israeli authorities have issued at least 9,518 demolition or stop-work notices against Palestinian structures in the occupied West Bank since 2015. The report states that 9,174 notices were documented between 2015 and 2025, with an additional 344 issued during the first nine months of 2026.
Hebron recorded the highest number of notices with 2,697, followed by Bethlehem with 1,310, Ramallah and Al-Bireh with 1,118, and Jerusalem with 929. The commission noted that these measures disrupt family stability, community expansion, and the development of essential services and livelihoods.
According to data from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), nearly 12,000 structures have been demolished during this same period. These demolitions have displaced more than 18,000 Palestinians and affected approximately 843,000 people. The UN figures include demolitions carried out due to a lack of building permits, punitive measures, or military operations.
