Wall collapse in Bono, Italy kills Luigi Solinas, injures his father

On 4 August 2026 a wall in the peripheral area of Bono, Sardinia, collapsed while 41‑year‑old farmer Luigi Solinas and his elderly father, Giovanni Antonio, were repairing it after heavy rain. The failure of the structure crushed Solinas, who died on site, and seriously injured his 81‑year‑old father, who was air‑lifted to San Francesco Hospital in Nuoro and remains in critical condition.

Emergency crews from the 118 ambulance service, fire brigade and police secured the scene and began an investigation. Local authorities sealed the area for technical examinations. The community expressed grief, and Mayor Michele Solinas publicly offered condolences, noting the family's recent history of loss.
