Wallabies announce major squad changes for Japan Test
The Wallabies have announced significant squad changes ahead of their Test match against Japan in Townsville on August 15, 2026. Following a 35-32 victory over the Brave Blossoms in Osaka, head coach Les Kiss has implemented a major reshuffle, particularly within the forward pack. Only two players from the previous starting pack, hooker Josh Nasser and captain Harry Wilson, have been retained in the starting lineup.
Key selections include the return of Carter Gordon at flyhalf and Isaac Henry at outside centre, following the injury to Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii. The forward rotation features Angus Bell and Taniela Tupou moving to the starting front row, alongside Charlie Cale and Carlo Tizzano in the back row. Several players, including Rob Valetini and Josh Canham, have been rested.
Notably, Queensland Reds prop Massimo De Lutiis has been named on the bench. If he takes the field, he will become the 1000th player to represent the Wallabies in Test rugby.
