Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing expands P-22's legacy

The Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing is currently under construction to expand the legacy of P-22, a famous mountain lion. The $100 million project features a 210-foot structure designed to straddle 10 lanes of US 101 and a local road, effectively linking the Santa Monica Mountains ecosystem with the Simi Hills.

By restoring 13 acres of habitat, the crossing aims to mitigate the dangers of habitat fragmentation, hunting, and ecological pressures. The route recreates the migration path used by P-22 when he moved from the San Diego area to Griffith Park in Los Angeles, providing a safe passage for mountain lions and other wildlife to travel between previously disconnected habitats.
