Wally Rettenbacher’s ‘Poetological Orientations’ Acoustic Broadcast

On 29 July 2026 at 19:00, Radio FRO aired “Poetological Orientations”, an experimental acoustic program produced by Wally Rettenbacher. The piece imagines a brief three‑minute dream journey to Daltonganj, Jharkhand, India, where a text about India is typed in a public writing stall.

The broadcast layers recordings from several performers in diverse locations – Bengali singer‑performer Sadhika Srijoni Tania in Bangladesh, Austrian musicians Paul Jaeg (zither) and Peter Hodina (reading) in Gosau and Salzburg, and soundscapes created in Bangladeshi settings. Listeners are invited to move mentally through acoustic “spaces” such as stairs and corridors, allowing the material to grow into a collective, non‑judgmental environment. The program also features a revival attempt of the ancient Charyapada Buddhist mystic songs.

The project blends spoken word, song, and instrumental music to explore how layered sound can generate a sense of shared unity across cultural and geographic boundaries.
