Walmart and Sam’s Club cut summer prices on thousands of items

Walmart announced a summer‑time promotion that reduces prices on thousands of products across its U.S. stores, Sam’s Club warehouses and both companies’ online platforms. The rollbacks, effective from the week of early July, cover fresh groceries such as 73 % lean ground beef, sweet corn and red cherries, beverages including 24‑packs of Coca‑Cola, Diet Coke, Pepsi and Dr Pepper, as well as household and outdoor items like disposable plates, ice‑cream, chips, grills and pool supplies. Executive Vice President Julie Barber said the discounts aim to help families save during the busy barbecue and vacation season.

Sam’s Club also lowered prices on more than 250 member items, featuring grilling staples such as bone‑in chicken wings, beef hot dogs, ground beef and pork ribs, and highlighted continued competitive fuel pricing for travelers. The price cuts follow earlier price increases earlier in the year and are presented as part of Walmart’s ongoing “Rollback” strategy to emphasize low‑price leadership.

The promotions have drawn political commentary, with President Donald Trump claiming the cuts were made at the request of his administration, though Walmart issued no comment linking the discounts to any government directive.
