Walmart expands membership benefits and reports AI-driven growth

Walmart is expanding its Walmart+ membership benefits by adding CITGO to its Gas Savings program. This addition increases the number of participating stations nationwide by approximately 30%, bringing the total to more than 17,000 locations where members can save 10 cents per gallon.

In its second quarter fiscal year 2027 results, Walmart also reported significant gains from its artificial intelligence integration. The company revealed that customers using Sparky, its AI-powered shopping assistant, spend 40% more per order than those who do not. Usage of the Sparky tool has increased by 70% compared to the previous year.

Overall, Walmart reported a 5.9% annual increase in total revenue to $187.9 billion, while global e-commerce sales grew by 23% during the quarter.
