Walmart expands retail operations and supplier engagement in Chile and Mexico
Walmart is conducting strategic initiatives to strengthen its supply chains and digital presence in Latin America. In Chile, the company hosted its 2026 Supplier Summit, gathering over 1,200 representatives to discuss retail challenges, technological advancements, and evolving consumer habits. During the event, Walmart Chile CEO Annie Walker announced that the company will begin operating its e-commerce supermarket services in Coyhaique this August, expanding digital coverage in the Aysén Region.
In Mexico, the 'Conexión Industrial' program facilitated a business meeting between Walmart representatives and 27 companies from the state of Guanajuato. This initiative, supported by the state government, aims to integrate local businesses into larger value chains. The participating companies, including several led by women and those holding the 'Marca Guanajuato' distinction, explored new procurement opportunities with an estimated sales expectation exceeding 2 million pesos.
